Chaos Ensues As Alt-Country Artist Podge Lane Takes Sonic Leaps and Questions Life through His Third Album Release, Multiple Dead Ends, Out August 30th!
Podge Lane announces his third full length album, Multiple Dead Ends, set for release August 30th via his independent record label, Teip Records.
Carving out his spot as one of Ireland's most unique and brash alt-country artists on his sophomore LP Common Country Misconceptions, Lane returns with his third full length album, Multiple Dead Ends, and in the process, reinvents his own sound. Introducing unapologetic electric guitar and brash soundscapes melding in the controlled chaos that is MDE, Lane journey’s throughout the 12-track album asks, 'what have I done in what time I've got?'

Throughout the past year alone, following on from the release of rootsy ode, Common Country Misconceptions, in March 2023, Lane released two standalone winter themed singles ‘Snow’ and ‘Hailstone’ in that November. Heading out on his non-stop tour, Lane headlines shows throughout Ireland and the UK, with stops in the legendary Green Note, Camden, as well as supporting acclaimed names; The Wedding Present, The Riptide Movement, Vieux Farka Touré and Rachael Sage, to name but a few.

Lane shares; “I always planned to tell my first two album stories the way I did, my past and my present, and to end the trilogy with this one, my future. As someone who used to go into my parents room at 5 or 6 because I was afraid of turning 40, the future can be scary. So I tried to detail my feelings of this fear of ageing through a winding narrative that never really ends, cause I guess there is no end."

Throughout Multiple Dead Ends Lane confronts his battle with long-standing anxieties which is mirrored throughout the 12 tracks; whether through playful, Harry Nielsen-esque acoustic jabs at his inner demons through “My House” and “Left Foot Right Foot (Panic), or panicked harmonica solos, and blues slide reminiscent of the White Stripes in ‘Phobophobia’, and even a vulnerable and tender piano ballad heard in ‘The Little Things’, it’s clear Lane’s faces his fears and pushes them to their limits in a melded fire of alt-country and rock influences.

Garnering praise for blending ‘dare I say Beatles adjacent… everyday life induced anxiety in a light-hearted, witty manner’ (HotPress) and hosting an ‘enlightened dark humour that has become a hallmark of his music, drawing comparisons to the likes of John Prine and Jimmy Buffet,’ (The Grateful Web), MDE promises to challenge deflective humour and shed light on the raw inside of the singer-songwriter's soul.

Seeking answers to questions that never end, Podge Lane takes his sound, breaks it and asks, 'what is going to happen now?' MDE will be launched on August 28th in Little Whelan’s Dublin. More dates TBA.
